EssenceMediacom wins award for workplace wellbeing

EssenceMediacom’s global rollout of its Mental Health Allies scheme has been honoured at the UK’s Make A Difference Awards, winning the prize for Best Multinational Implementation of a Workplace Wellbeing Programme at a ceremony in London.

The judges highlighted the number and reach of the Allies, who now cover more than 45 markets and more than 60 cities, as well as the way the programme had considered cultural nuances as part of the implementation process.

The Mental Health Allies programme, developed with Mental Health at Work, started in the UK in 2017. In 2021 it was rolled out globally, with adaptations to reflect local levels of stigma and readiness to have wellbeing conversations in each market.

Allies are given a two-day tailored programme designed to increase understanding around mental health and help develop and practice the skills needed for the role. A 2022 survey showed that 75% of Allies have had conversations with colleagues about their mental health, and 80% have seen the Ally Programme promoted in their local office.

“We’re thrilled to receive this honour from the Make A Difference Awards and thanks should go to the Mental Health Ally community for the time they give to supporting their fellow Essentials with any challenges they face, inside and outside of the workplace. At EssenceMediacom we are committed to ‘making work more human’ and our investment in this programme is a key element in making EssenceMediacom the best possible place to work for everyone,” said Emily Howe, Global People Experience Manager at EssenceMediacom.
